RC Gliders: A Unique Way to Fly

As plenty of RC aircraft fans will tell you, flying RC gliders may be one of the best ways to enjoy flight.

Not only do they offer a unique experience, you also don’t need much know-how about the internal components you’ll find in other types of model aircraft.

RC glider components

As you may have guessed, these RC models have no motor to drive them, so the flying experience is very different: there’s no power source, and you rely entirely on the air currents around you while you’re flying.

All you’ll have on board is a receiver, a few servos to move the control surfaces such as the wings’ ailerons and the tail, and a battery to power these electrical components.

Besides the components mounted in the glider itself, you’ll need an RC transmitter to control your scale model from a distance.

How do you fly an RC glider?

Flying one of these models isn’t much different from flying a regular RC plane. The biggest difference is probably the launch, since you have to do it by hand.

A good way to prepare is to watch a simulator video that explains step by step how to fly this type of RC plane, along with the things to keep in mind to keep one in the air.

To get a better idea of what flying an RC glider feels like, it’s well worth watching a few videos of them in action.

You’ll also see what it’s like to assemble your glider on a typical day at the flying field.

Buy your RC glider on Amazon

As we always recommend, and this time is no exception, we suggest buying on Amazon for the quality of the products you’ll find there and its countless deals.

Another big advantage of this platform is that your order usually arrives within a few days of buying it.

You’ll find a large number of models there, so you can choose the one that suits you best and start flying one of these motorless aircraft right away.
