Tamiya RC Trucks, the Best Option on the Market

In the world of RC trucks, one of the best-known and most respected lines is Tamiya’s. Below we’ll walk you through the different versions you can find, so you can enjoy your own scale model without leaving home.

To learn more about any of these trucks, look up the one that catches your eye on Amazon, where you can check its details and complete your purchase.

Features of Tamiya RC trucks

You’ll see that the materials are top quality, with high-grade plastics for the body and fenders, and metal for the most critical parts such as the chassis and suspension.

Keep in mind that many of these models don’t include the transmitter, receiver and servo, so you’ll have to buy them separately as an extra expense if you don’t already have them.

But as with other radio-controlled scale models, you can use the same transmitter to control several vehicles. Just remember to bind the receiver installed in each truck to the transmitter.

Below we’ll show you different models from this Japanese brand, so you can see how many it has to offer and pick the one you like best.

Tamiya 1/14 scale trucks

This is one of the most popular scales when it comes to RC scale trucks. You’ll find a huge number of models, so you can choose the one you like most or the one that best fits what you’re looking for.

There are several models in this size, so here’s a list of some of them with a short description to give you an overview.

Tamiya 1/14 Mercedes-Benz Arocs

This is a three-axle truck that replicates the full-size Mercedes-Benz Arocs at 1/14 scale, made by the Japanese brand Tamiya.

This scale semi truck recreates the Mercedes-Benz Arocs, the first European narrow-cab truck in Tamiya’s truck series.

Tamiya’s version faithfully captures the truck’s modern shape using ABS plastic parts and a range of metal chassis components. A look at the detailed interior and auxiliary equipment, such as the air tanks, confirms the replica-quality realism of the body, which is enhanced even further by metal transfers representing the emblems and numerous plated parts.

The chassis, for its part, is built for greater durability, with aluminum side rails and resin cross members. Drive comes from a front-mounted motor and is sent through a propeller shaft to the rear axle. Built-in differential gears ensure smooth cornering.

Gear changes can be made with a Tamiya 4-channel transmitter, sold separately.

Tamiya 1/14 Grand Hauler

The Tamiya Grand Hauler looks like the classic American trucks you see on the highways here in the US. The included 540 motor drives a 3-speed transmission that has no trouble turning the dual rear axles.

Leaf springs and shocks keep the axles suspended from the metal frame and keep the power on the pavement.

This custom-style scale beauty includes some new accessories, such as a front bumper, grille, sun visor, stretched chassis, side steps, rear fenders, rear bumper, a driver figure, custom exhaust stacks and more.

Whether on its own or hooked up to an optional trailer, the Grand Hauler is sure to catch your eye and that of other scale truck fans.

What comes in the Tamiya 1/14 Grand Hauler kit?

A 540 motor, tires, cab, wheels, decal sheet, 3-speed transmission, instructions and a fifth-wheel coupler for a trailer (although the trailer itself isn’t included in the kit).

Tamiya trailers for RC trucks

Here you’ll find several models with different shapes and functions, so the choice will depend mostly on your personal taste and on what you want to use each one for.

These are some of the most popular Tamiya RC trailers.

The box trailer uses anodized aluminum panels for extra durability and realism. The rear doors open just like on full-size trailers, so you can load and haul things inside.

As for Tamiya’s 1/14 scale fuel tank trailer, it has been completely redesigned. This new Tamiya fuel tank trailer features an original design inspired by the fuel tanker trailers seen in the United States.

Buying a Tamiya RC truck

Buying one of these RC trucks today is very easy: just pick the one you like best and look it up on Amazon.

From there you can complete your purchase quickly, easily and securely. You might also like an RC bus.

We point you to Amazon because of its excellent reputation around the world and its huge selection of quality products.

You can also take advantage of Amazon’s shipping perks, such as special discounts or next-day delivery. And remember you can have your order gift-wrapped, so you can send it straight to your favorite person as a nice surprise.

Used Tamiya RC trucks

Another popular option is to pick up one of these scale models on the used market. Given how popular Tamiya RC trucks are, it shouldn’t be hard to find one in good condition.

We always suggest inspecting and testing the model beforehand to make sure all its parts work properly, and to find out whether any of them need replacing. Also, be sure to ask up front which parts are included and which aren’t, because some of them can mean a big extra expense, such as the transmitter or the LiPo battery inside the semi truck.

It’s also an ideal option for hobbyists who are just getting started with RC scale trucks. They can start with a used model and later move up to a newer, more complex one.
