Besides cruising across lakes and the sea, you can also dive beneath the surface with an RC submarine. Here we’ll tell you a bit more about them, their main features and which one is right for you.

Throughout this post you’ll see all the functions these RC submarines have to offer, as well as the different types of model available.

RC submarine features

As we mentioned, RC submarines give you hours of fun maneuvering underwater. You can also let them float on the surface, with that classic surfacing motion.

They can move in several directions, forward and backward, so you won’t have any trouble getting them wherever you want.

They’re ideal for swimming pools, where you can control every move from the deck. You can also drive one while you’re in the pool yourself, but remember not to get the transmitter wet.

RC submarine run time and charging

With its electric motor and battery, a typical RC submarine runs for about 15 minutes per charge. That’s why we recommend having spare batteries, so you can keep enjoying your submarine.

Charging the battery is easy: just plug it in with its charger and you’re set. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes for the battery to fully charge again.

Check the details of each submarine’s battery, since they don’t all offer the same run time, and keep in mind the charger you’ll be using as well.

A great gift for kids

If you’re looking for the perfect gift for a kid in the family, an RC submarine is it. They’ll have a blast in the pool all summer with these submersible boats.

To find out the recommended age for each RC submarine, open the listing of the one you’re interested in, where you’ll find all the details, including where it’s made.

If it’s a gift, some sellers offer gift wrapping for special occasions such as a birthday. Just select that option when you check out and your order will arrive gift-wrapped.

RC submarines with cameras

For an extra dose of fun, check out submarines with a built-in camera. They let you see where your submarine is going in real time.

Some models come with FPV cameras that let you see everything the submarine sees through special goggles, similar to the ones FPV drone pilots use.

Mini submarines with cameras are especially popular.

Used RC submarines

Since most RC submarines on the market cost under $100, we don’t recommend buying a used one. You’d most likely have to buy new batteries and an accessory or two, so it would end up costing almost as much as a new submarine.

Buying used can make sense if you’re looking for one for professional use, for example shooting professional underwater photos or video.

How to buy an RC submarine

To buy an RC submarine, just pick the one that catches your eye on Amazon and check its specifications there.

We point you to Amazon because of the huge number and variety of products it offers. It also lets you pay for your orders in a very safe and reliable way, which matters too.

You can also take advantage of the sales Amazon runs, which can get you your products for even less.

We hope you found this information on RC submarines useful. Feel free to comment on this post and share it with your friends.
