Part of the guide: RC boats

In this post we’ll focus on battery-powered RC boats, specifically brushless RC boats.
These RC boats are without a doubt the least complicated, compared with fuel-powered ones, because all you need to do is make sure your batteries are charged to enjoy all the fun they can offer.
Why choose a brushless RC boat?
The first reason to choose a boat with an electric motor over one with a nitro engine is how simple it is to use and maintain. You won’t have to spend time taking components apart to check that they’re working properly.
There are also fewer parts to worry about, and fewer extra components needed to run it. You don’t have to worry about tuning the carburetor or dialing in the engine either.
These days, brushless motors and LiPo batteries can deliver power similar to fuel engines, but with a lower cost in the long run.
Most of these electric boats are ready to run in both fresh water and salt water.
Electric racing RC boats
As with other categories on this site, there are electric racing boats too. In this case, they come equipped with powerful brushless motors.
These boats can reach 62 mph (100 km/h), so they should be run at venues specially set up for this activity.
You may find races like these at a local RC club or racing pond near you. At these clubs you can not only compete but also learn a lot from other fans of the hobby we love so much.
Used electric RC boats
Electric boats can also be found on the used market. Hobbyists looking to add a new model to their collection will often sell their old ones at a low price.
Many of these boats are in great shape, and you won’t need much money to refurbish them. Some are even ready to run, saving you time and money.
We always recommend checking every detail of any boat you’re thinking of buying, especially the hull, since even small leaks can cause a lot of headaches and make the boat almost unusable. They can also ruin the internal components of your brushless RC boat.
Cheap electric RC boats
The RC boat market has many types of boats for different budgets, and you’ll find a wide selection of affordable models.
They’re great for tight budgets, and also for anyone who just wants to have fun whenever they get some free time during the week.
They’re also useful for people who are new to the hobby and want to practice with a first boat before moving on to more advanced models.
One of these electric boats can cost from around $20, and they make a great gift for a kid.
